瞬息間,這樣便到了十二月!這個月有大家期望的聖誕及新年假期。從小也有一個疑問:聖誕節是西方的節日,為什麼很多亞洲人也喜歡慶祝這個節日?我嘗試去解釋十二月是一年最後的一個月,大家也想慶祝一下一整年的辛勞。聖誕節是一個普天同慶的日子,所以各人十分重視。今年十二月開始,便收到兩個好消息!今年學校重新編寫校本德育及公民教育的課程,安排逢星期一的第九節為德育課。首先,在當天的早會上安排分享相關主題。在德育課時,班主任會教導學生早會上所分享主題內容及深化。為使學生在學習校本德育課程內容時,不單學習相關的知識,更可以為他們安排不同的活動加深了解,令他們可以學以致用,所以我們嘗試爭取更多資源。學校成功申請到由教育局舉辦的「赤子情·中國心」的計劃,獲批資助,主題為:「時光倒流回古都 - 西安」。學校先安排學生在早會及德育課了解西安的文化及歷史,再安排四年級的同學在2020年4月中旬前往中國西安進行當地歷史考察及文化交流。另外,學校亦成功入選仁濟醫院德育及公民教育(2019 – 2020)獎勵計劃,並授予獎金資助推行環保教育,主題為:「珍惜地球資源·齊創環保生活」。以上的肯定,會令學校再加倍努力,為我們的學生爭取不同的資源,為他們創建及提供更優質的教育。 |

December came swiftly and four months passed. I believe that everyone wants to have the Christmas and New Year holidays. I have been feeling puzzled when I was young. Christmas is a Western Festival, why do lots of Asian want to celebrate this festival? I attempt to explain like this: December is the last month of the year and everyone wants to celebrate for their contributions throughout a year. Christmas is indeed a joyful celebration for the whole world, so people really treat it seriously. In the beginning of December, the school received 2 good news! Our school rewrites the school-based Moral and Civic Education curriculum. The Monday morning assembly would be used to share the scheduled topic and it would be taught in depth in the 9th lesson which is assigned for the subject. We want our students to put what they have learnt into practice, so we try our best to get more resources.We successfully got the fund from an Exchange Programme Subsidy Scheme which is organized by the Education Bureau called ‘Understanding Our Motherland (2019/20)’. The topic is called: ‘Time goes back to the ancient city – Xian’. The school will first let students understand the culture and history of Xian, then P.4 students will be arranged to go to Xian in the mid-April of 2020 for the history investigation and cultural exchange. Also, our school is successfully selected by the Adjudicative Committee ofYan Chai Hospital Moral and Civic Education Fund 2019 – 2020 Award Scheme. The topic is called ‘Treasure the natural resources on Earth and create an e-friendly life together’. These awards ensure our effort and they gave us support to improve ourselves to earn different resources to establish and provide high qualityeducation. |

在12月5日,三年級全班同學與老師們,在下午浩浩蕩蕩地前往高山劇場。由於學校銳意發展戲劇教育,不單在課堂上及課外活動,更給予機會學生出外欣賞舞台劇。是次學校安排學生欣賞了一齣名為《去吧!登月幻想號!》的舞台劇。故事內容講述一名女孩希望能夠登陸月球探險,她知道這是不可能的,所以她每晚也看有關的書籍。有一次,她居然走進書中,到了月球,有着不同的經歷。可惜,書中的結局是流白了。當女孩子十分擔憂之際,她的父親打開書本,見到她,不斷要求她出來。最後父親進了這本書與她一起探險。事實上,這不是一本書,而是……。當中有喜有悲,同學們十分喜歡這故事,有些學生告訴我,他們是哭時笑,十分感動。回校更完成了觀後感,內容十分細緻,我們的學生真的感情豐富。另外,在12月16日,五年級的同學也到元朗劇院欣賞折子戲,希望他們了解中國的文化遺產:粵劇。學生不但可以欣賞折子戲,更有機會上台嘗試一下。我們相信學生能夠實踐,便能令所學的牢牢地記憶起來。今年,學校成功申請由中英劇團舉辦的《如果白雪公主不美麗》戲劇創作計劃,中英劇團提供專業的導師教導學生。經訓練後,學生有機會在學校或其他公眾地方展示自己的學習成果。12月20日,我們如常舉辦聖誕聯歡會,同學們也悉心打扮,他們特意穿上紅色、綠色、黃色的便服,令節日氣氛更濃厚。今年除了在課室舉行大食會及聖誕禮物抽獎外,學校更為全校學生安排欣賞一齣歌舞劇,同學們十分投入欣賞,更吸引了校務處的同事到禮堂一起欣賞。故事內容是有關環保意識,令學生再一次了解環保的重要性。戲劇這元素真的在學校無處不在。 |

On 5thDecember, 2019, all the P.3 students and teachers went to Ko Shan Theatre together. As our school is mainly developing drama, besides in the classroom or ECA, the school also wants to provide more chances for our students to appreciate drama performance. This time, our students watched a drama called ‘Go and land on the moon with Fantasy Rocket’. The story is about a girl who wants to go to the moon for exploration but she realized that it is impossible. Therefore, she reads a lot of books about this issue every night. Once, she went into the book and arrived to the Moon. She had different kinds of experiences there. However, it was blank at the end of the story. When she was so worried, his father opened the book and asked her to come back. But he was convinced to go to the book to explore together. Actually, the book is not a story book but …… In the story, there were a lot of happiness and sorrow, students like this drama so much and they told me that they laughed and cried throughout the performance. They were amused and touched. They wrote the report after going to school. The content they wrote were thorough. It means that our students have rich emotion to learn. On 16th December, 2019, P.5 students went to Yuen Long Theatre to appreciate Chinese Opera. It aims to let our students learn this cultural heritage. Students were not just to watch the Chinese Opera and they had a chance to go on stage to try out. We believe that students can learn more effectively if they have a chance to put what they have learnt into practice. They school successfully applied a scheme which is organized by Chung Ying Theatre Company. The scheme is called ‘What if Snow White was not pretty’ – Creative Fairy Tale Drama Creation in Practice Programme. The drama expert assigned by Chung Ying Theatre Company comes and teaches our students how to act and perform. After the training, students can perform at school or in public. On 20th December, 2019, the Christmas Party was also held. All the students tried to dress up well with the colour or red, green and yellow as the thematic colour tone which could create the festive atmosphere. Besides the Christmas Party and Lucky Draw in the classroom, a drama was arranged for all the teachers and students to appreciate. It was a musical and it mainly spread out the consciousness of environmental protection Students were focused and even the staff in the General Office came and watched together. You can easily find the drama element in everywhere in LTY.

學校被粉飾得越來越美麗了!學校參加了由「多樂士油漆公司」舉辦的Let’s colour。該公司提供免費油漆,學校安排老師及學生設計,再將設計畫在牆上,再加上顏色。我們以學校的吉祥物:龍仔、龍女。他們在青草地上彩虹之下玩耍,這正正是學校也希望學生可以天天開開心心地回校上課。參與的學生們十分投入去完成作品,更有同學們每天到牆壁用手摸摸一下這作品,因為他們覺得十分漂亮,更對學校多了一份歸屬感。視藝科之外,午間音樂是我們學校的指定活動,已經舉辦多年,學生有機會在午息時間,向其他同學表現一下自己在音樂上的學習成果,很多同學藉此機會找到自己的興趣,更可以在這方面加以發揮。說到音樂,今年學校組織了合唱團,學生們的表現真的令我詫異又驚訝!短短四個月的時間,學生們可以唱出一首英文歌,又要分部、又要和音。當他們在聖誕英文活動日表演時,我感動得差點落淚。多謝你們的努力! |

Our school becomes more colourful and beautiful! The school joined a project called ‘Let’s colour’ that is sponsored by Dulex. The company provides some paints. Students and teachers designed what they want to draw on the wall at school and coloured it. We used the Mascots of our school: Dragon Boy and Dragon Girl. They were playing on the grass and under the rainbow, this is exactly what we want our students to go to school happily. Participants were so concentrated to finish the mural. Some students touched the wall picture on the wall with their hands and as they think it is beautiful. In this circumstance, a sense of belonging was created. Besides VA, Lunch Music Sharing has been regulated for several years. It provides opportunities to our students to perform what they have learnt in Music. Many students took this chance to find out their pastimes and they can put more effort on it as to develop. Our school organized a School Choir. Their performance really made me feel shocked and surprised! Just for 4 months’ duration, out students could sing a difficult English songs with separation and chord. When they performed on the English Activity Day on Christmas, I was touched and rimmed with tears. Thank you so much for your effort given!

今年的聖誕英語活動日,已在12月19日舉行了。目的是運用聖誕節的內容,提升學生對學習英文的興趣。一如以往,我們邀請了學校附近的幼稚園參與,今年人數超過130人參與。而且,我們也邀請了兩所附近的中學前來為我們準備攤位,給予學生學習。這種合作模式,可算是三贏的局面。當天,首先有戲劇表演、樂器表演、英詩集誦、合唱團表演及聖誕歌大合唱,場面十分熱鬧又溫馨。表演節目完成後,攤位遊戲及電影欣賞便開始,內容有關英文及STEM,同學們也玩得雀躍,又能學習知識,真是一舉兩得。活動期間,我們不停拍攝留念,令氣氛更熾熱。最後,各人也懷着依依不捨的心情離開。衷心多謝老師們及家長們的努力,而且家長教師會的成員亦為學校安排家長義工在場協助,令活動更加流暢。這顯示了家後合作的重要性。學校在12月13日為家長們舉辦了一場理財講座,家長的回饋十分正面,而且覺得內容知道教導子女的理財方法是重要的。在12月16日下午,學校為家長舉辦了新一年的「校長茶敘」。由於上一年反應熱烈,所以今年繼續舉辦。今次的主題是:「與子女相處之道」。講座後,家長不但了解主題分享的內容,更明白學校新一年的發展,他們紛紛表示支持學校的發展。家長們最希望可以與校長及主任直接對話。他們今年對學校多了很多正面評價及欣賞,他們也明白學校是因為世界的趨勢而需要不斷求變。 |

English Activity Day on Christmas was held on 19th December, 2019. It aims to use the content of Christmas to enhance the interest of students’ in learning English. As usual, we invited the kindergartens nearby to participate. This year, there were 130 kindergartens to participate. Also, we invited 2 secondary schools nearby to help us prepare booths for our students to learn through playing. This kind of cooperation is very effective with win-win situation. On that day, drama performance, instrument performance, choral speaking, Choir and singing along together. The atmosphere was bustling with warmth. After all the performances, booths and movie appreciation started with the content about English and STEM learning. Students were so excited and they could learn simultaneously. It was meaningful. Throughout the activity session, we kept on taking pictures and listening music which made everyone feel cozy. Finally, everyone was not willing to go but they had to. I want to take this chance to show my gratitude to our teachers and parents. PTA members arranged some parent volunteers to come and help which could make the schedule run smoothly. It showed the importance of Parent and School cooperation. On 13th December, 2019, a seminar about ‘How parents manage the finance?’ The feedback was so positive and they believe that it is essential to know and it should also be conveyed to their children. On 16th December, 2019, ‘High Tea with Principal’ was held again as lots of parents love this function and they believe it is the best channel to communicate. The theme is about ‘How to get on well with your kids?’ After the sharing, parents can learn the way to communicate with their kids and they also know the development of the school in this academic year. We were so glad that they support the change of the school. Parents really wish to talk to the Principal and senior teachers face-to-face and misunderstanding would be clarified. This year, parents gave lots of positive feedback with appreciation and they totally understood that the school keeps on changing as it is the tread of the whole world.
